Who we are

House Removals operates this website at https://house-removals.net and provides removals, packing and storage services across the United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data protection law we are the data controller for the personal information described below. You can reach us at hello@house-removals.net.

What we collect

When you use the quote form we collect your name, phone number, email address, the pickup and drop-off addresses for your move, the moving date if you give one, and anything you write in the notes field. If you email or ring us instead, we collect whatever you choose to tell us.

We also collect limited technical information through analytics — pages visited, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. That is aggregated and is not used to identify you personally.

Why we hold it

• To answer your enquiry and quote for your move. The main reason, and what you provided the information for.
• To carry out the work if you book. Addresses, access notes and contact details are needed by the crew on the day.
• To meet legal and accounting obligations. Records relating to a completed job are kept for the periods UK law requires.
• To protect the form from abuse. reCAPTCHA distinguishes genuine enquiries from automated submissions.

The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and running the business and, once you book, the performance of a contract with you.

Who else sees it

Your enquiry is transmitted to our own lead-handling system so a person can read it and reply. We do not sell your details, we do not pass them to other removals firms, and we do not add you to marketing lists you did not ask for.

A small number of service providers process data on our behalf: our website host, our email provider, Google Analytics for site statistics, and Google reCAPTCHA for form protection. Each acts on our instructions under a processing agreement.

Where a move is going abroad, the information necessary to complete customs documentation is shared with the relevant customs authorities and, where applicable, our agent at the destination. That is unavoidable for an international move, and we will tell you what is being shared before it is.

Cookies and analytics

This site sets no advertising cookies and runs no tracking pixels for third-party advertisers. Google Analytics sets cookies to measure how the site is used, and it loads only after the page has finished rendering. Google reCAPTCHA sets cookies to assess whether a form submission is genuine. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings; the site works without them, though the quote form may be less tolerant of an unusual configuration.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become bookings are kept only while they might still be useful to you — people often come back after a chain falls through — and are then deleted. Records relating to a completed job are kept for as long as accounting and insurance obligations require, then deleted. If you ask us to remove your details sooner we will, unless we are legally required to retain something.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct anything inaccurate, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to our using it. You can also ask for your data in a portable format. Email hello@house-removals.net and we will deal with it without charge.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a request you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would rather you raised it with us first so we have a chance to put it right.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS and form submissions are encrypted in transit. Access to enquiry data is limited to the people who need it to quote or carry out the work. No system is perfectly secure, so please do not send bank details, passwords or copies of identity documents through the quote form — if we need something like that for a customs declaration, we will tell you a secure way to send it.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update this page. It is worth re-reading if you are about to send us a substantial amount of information.
